Dear SYBO

I build and run the backend platforms that other people build on, and I have done it at the kind of scale where reliability is not optional. At Lunar I wrote Go microservices for around a million banking users, with gRPC between services and GraphQL and REST APIs for the apps, on endpoints hit every time someone opened the app and shipped to continuously. That is the closest thing I know to the always-on, millions-of-players platform behind Subway Surfers.

The part of this role that fits me best is modernizing legacy systems. Full-time at Lunar I took over the card-management system, which dated back to a rushed 2020 launch and carried real technical debt. I reworked the architecture that was holding back its scalability and built an integration with the card issuer that kept the two systems in sync and reconciled discrepancies on its own. I was on-call for it and handled the incidents that came with running it in production, so the operational side of platform work is familiar rather than new.

Since then I have been a founder at Avido, where I own a platform end to end, from the services down to the Azure Kubernetes infrastructure with Pulumi, GitOps, CI and the Grafana LGTM stack for observability, and I have been on-call for all of it. My cloud experience is on Azure rather than Google Cloud, but it is the same cloud-native and infrastructure-as-code patterns your stack is built on, and I am equally at home on the frontend in React and TypeScript. I also like that this role sits close to game designers, product and analytics, because the platform work I enjoy most is the kind that turns what other teams need into something they can rely on without thinking about it.

I should be honest that I have not had much time for gaming while running a company, but I have always enjoyed it, and there is something genuinely appealing about the platform behind a game that billions of people have played being the thing I get to make better. I live in Hedehusene, so your Copenhagen studio is a short train ride away, and I would be glad to talk about how I can help.

Kind regards,

Lasse Hyldahl Jensen
